Take That, Fear
Last week we talked about how the Screamies aren’t good for your intuition. Today we’re going to talk about supporting your intuition, especially during times when you are stressed.
Let’s say you have gotten really good at identifying when you are afraid. You’ve begun to understand that when we’re in fear, our intuition is completely non-functional, meaning we cannot trust it to give us good information.
That’s great and an important first step!
But I’m sure you’ve also figured out by now that there is a wide gap between knowing you’re in a circular thinking loop (I call it Figure It Out Mode) and finding your way back to being calm.
Here are 3 things you can do when you recognize that you’re spinning
Or spiraling. Or just generally feeling miserable from thinking obsessively about how to solve anything that is concerning to you:
~Shameless Plug: people usually reach out to their friendly neighborhood intuitive when they get stuck like this 😉
🙂 I had to! remind you that this is why people like me exist in the world! Seriously though, it’s important to air out our fears. Keeping them clenched up inside your heart makes it almost impossible to liberate yourself from them. Writing them down or sharing them with a trusted advisor (or both) gives you the opportunity to see them as they are, thoughts that you have picked up and empowered into beliefs. They only have control over your peace of mind if you choose to listen.
~Make an intention to keep yourself as much in the present moment as possible.
No one is perfect at attaining mindfulness. So don’t try for perfection. Start with that oldie-but-goodie and notice 5 things you can see, hear, feel, smell, etc. This works like a charm! If you want extra credit, make sure you are noticing and claiming things that please you, make you happy, and delight you.
~Participate in a rescue mission. Go find yourself some joy, and while you are at it, go find her sisters too (fun, silliness, and humor)
Give yourself permission to be radically joyful at least once a day, no matter what. Start with one joy, and push yourself to claim as many happies as you can.
This does not mean you ignore the important issues that make your walk on the earth complex and challenging. Feel every single bit of the feelings that come with being alive. But you are also allowed to carry the grace that recognizes at least three things daily that make you smile. Or giggle. Or belly laugh.
Extra credit: keep a special journal with a list of your daily joy.
Extra Extra credit: include someone else in your joy.
And as always, remember to take deep breaths.
I’d love to hear what’s on your lists!
