Last week I received an email from a long-time client who was deeply upset at the exposed chasm of beliefs on full display in her neighborhood and online after the murder of Charlie Kirk.

She asked me, “Are you going to do any classes or workshops about America? I think a lot of us could use some guidance on how to deal with this division in our country and stay mentally ok. I went for a walk this morning and saw a few 1/2 mast flags- including on the house of a friend that I really like-she and her husband are low key about politics but this was disturbing”.

It is that.

~Before I share my response to her, I want to suggest that if you have a well-developed empathy muscle, I believe we crossed a line long before the last election where it was possible to be neutral politically in our country. It might never have been. There are many, many brilliant people to follow here and other places if you are interested in a deeper learning on how we’ve arrived at this moment in our history. If you have studied with me for a while, you probably know what I stand for, so I won’t reiterate, but I will say again that any propaganda veiled as debate that is simply not tolerated here or on any of my pages.

So while I have many thoughts and feelings about our country and what it means to be an American, I do not have any plans to teach intuitive courses that focus specifically on our nation’s current dalliance with Cristo-fascism.

Here’s my response to my client:

Your question is a great one and the answer is “yes and no”.

I had surgery the week before the election and took most of November and December off, so when 2025 started I’d had lots of time to think about how I wanted to support folks under a second Trump administration. I have tailored the Everyday Intuition Group toward topics that foster hope, clarity, and most of all, our intuition’s connection to spiritual grounding and spiritual strength. I started my Substack around the same time and also use it as a platform to teach about intuitive spirituality, very intentionally distanced from the screaming/fear mongering/provoked hysteria of social media. So yes, I’ve very deliberately been addressing our country’s very concerning turn to the right.

However, I don’t and won’t teach classes or workshops specifically on the division because it will only reinforce the idea that talking about how horrifying it is, is the same as solving it. (It’s also worth mentioning here that we are actually not as divided as we fear. There is a very vocal, very hateful minority in our country that is galvanized by violence and cruelty. Most of us do not align with that.)

One of my main concerns has been watching people conflate sharing their opinions with activism. They are not the same. Talking is not the work. Posting on social media or venting about how distressing what we’re seeing is only one step of the process, and a very small one. We must actually do something. We have to choose actions that help other people. Getting involved in volunteering for Dems (or not-not everyone is centrist), contacting representatives, mailing postcards, making calls, knocking doors, and most importantly participating in mutual aid, these are just a few of the things I think are powerful ways to feel grounded in the solution. I also think unpacking our privilege as white people is the work of a lifetime and our willingness to be uncomfortable while we learn is critical.

I can help people by teaching them about how to use their intuition in difficult times. It is vital and is also an action step. Every client I’ve had this year, and everyone who has been in my group, is already thinking about the same things you are and is equally upset by them. We are all in this together. With my work, I’ve tried to create a space that helps heal the feelings of helplessness that can pose as reality, that provides a respite from the constant turmoil in the news, and that teaches the skills to get through it. But I intentionally do not spend a lot of time on specifics because we have work to do.

Hope this helps,
